Who Died on Tuesday? Yakima Police Name Homicide Victim
Yakima Police Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate a homicide reported on Tuesday at the Yakima Inn Hotel on North 1st Street.
Authorities say Brown died of a gunshot wound to the head
Authorities on Wednesday released the name of the victim as 38-year-old Clayton Peter Brown Jr. He died after being shot in a room at the hotel. He was shot in the head.
So far no arrests have been made but police have security footage of the suspect leaving the hotel. Capt. Jay Seely says they know people were outside and watched the suspect leave in a red vehicle. They're hoping someone will come forward to help police identify the suspect so and arrest can be made.
Police continue searching for a suspect and the motive in the shooting
So far the suspect has not been named or located.
So far there's no motive in the murder of 38-year-old Clayton Peter Brown Jr. Police aren't saying if drugs or gangs were part of incident. Police say Brown Jr. was living in the room where he died.
“At this point, based on video security footage, several people may have witnessed the shooter leaving the hotel room,” said Yakima Police Captain Jay Seely. “Our hope is these witnesses come forward and help us arrest the person responsible for this homicide,” says Seely.
