Yakima has a New Place for Crepes that You’ve Gotta Try
Crepes aren't exactly new, but are still kind of an untouched treat in Yakima. Places have carried them before and several breakfast spots have them on the menu, but these are more like street crepes. Giant, overflowing with stuff, you can eat them like a giant taco kinda but not really... they are their own thing. Like the thinnest pancake you ever saw, with great stuff wrapped up.
These were a trendy street food maybe 15 years go where so many places would offer them as a fun idea while walking around. During this time Yakima kinda missed the boat. It was like that period of time when everyone was doing unique cupcakes.
When one of my kids told me a local place is now doing crepes, I closed my laptop, grabbed my keys and jumped out the front door to check them out.
You can find these at Icy Thai at Rainier Square in Yakima, behind Wendy's and that Charter College thing.
Icy Thai is a favorite place for my kids as they loved the rolled ice cream and boba and they're now offering crepes and mini pancakes, both topped with so much fun stuff. They have several to choose from or you can build your own with toppings like strawberries, banana, Nutella, marshmallows, sprinkles and even cereal.
They have a few options or build your own. I grabbed the strawberry Nutella one which was great, though I think I would have preferred banana. I'll try that next time.
Gotta try those mini-pancakes next time, too.
