Yakima Police have identified an 18-year-old man who died in a fatal shooting in Yakima Thursday as Sebastian Suarez of Yakima.

Yakima Police say Suarez was driving and got of the car when he was shot

Capt. Jay Seely says Suarez was driving on South 20th Avenue with his girlfriend and brother in the vehicle when he stopped at a stop sign at 20th and Nob Hill near the Pizza Hut restaurant. That's where police say Suarez jumped out of his vehicle and exchanged words with two men walking in the area. A fight started and Capt. Seely says one of the men then pulled out a gun and shot Suarez. The two suspects then fled the area.

After being shot the victim fell into lanes of traffic

Suarez stumbled and fell face down into the westbound lanes of Nob Hill Blvd. during busy evening traffic. Seely says that's when the driver of a truck swerved his vehicle and blocked other cars from running over Suarez who fell into the road after being shot. Others stopped to help him but Suarez died at the scene of the shooting. Police arrived and searched for several hours but couldnt' locate the shooters.

Police say they've identified one of the two shooters who knew the victim

No arrests have been made but Capt. Seely says the three knew each other from school. He won't say if the shooting was gang related but he says there's a strong possibility. Capt. Seely says the nearby Pizza Hut restaurant was busy and plenty of people were witnesses to the crime. No other injuries were reported and no bullets hit any nearby homes however one person told police their car was struck by a bullet at the time of the shooting.
