Wildfires Can Cause Travel Problems

Sunday on our way home from our family reunion in Prospect, Oregon we encountered road closures on Highway 97 just outside of Madras, Oregon due to the wildfires. Luckily ... for us it was only 20 minutes of a delay.

I have never been that close to a wildfire before and it was a little unnerving!

We are expecting more lightning all this week, so there is a Fire Weather Warning in effect. Normally ... there is no need to check the road conditions in the summer other then road construction, but I would advise that you check them. That way you don't have to take a detour that adds hours to your trip!
