John Riggs was born and raised in Yakima. He moved away from Washington state for about 10 years, but moved back home, bringing along his wife and three kids. You'll find John in town snapping photos when he's covering new business openings, especially restaurants. He loves to help spread the word, and to encourage folks to shop local first. John also loves to travel, always looking for quick weekend getaways, attending events, and fan expos around the country. Don't be too shy to say, "Hi!"

January Weather in Yakima Looking Wet but Some Snow Mid-Month
New Year, New Month, Same Weather as we've had for the past couple of weeks. That's about what January is looking like, at least for now.
We've had that kind rainy, kinda wet, kinda soggy; that 'feel the mist on your face' kind of weather the past couple of weeks and it looks like that's about how it's gonna stay, at least for a little while...

Getting Pulled Over in WA… Immediately or When It’s Safe?
I was watching this video of a police officer pulling over an FBI contractor when the police officer said something I was confused by.
When the cop asked him what he learned in driving school about getting pulled over, the driver said to pull over when it was safe...

CA Police Can No Longer Ask this “Trick” Question
We've all been there. Or most of us, anyway.
Cop pulled you over and says something to kind of bait you to admit you were doing something wrong.
"Looks like you were speeding..." and you reply with 'sorry, I was late for an appointment' or something that basically has you admitting to speeding...

If travel plans are in your 2024 future, you're in luck as Tri-Cities famous Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) has 11 nonstop destination while our humble Yakima Airport (YKM) only has one. Can You Legally Drive in the Left Lane in WA City Streets, Not Just Highways?
Oh man, nothing makes one's blood boil more than just trying to get somewhere and there's a truck in the right lane while the car in the left lane is just cruisin' along with the truck without speeding up to pass them or they're just driving casually in the left lane and not passing like everyone should be doing...
Up your Mac & Cheese Game with this Truffle Mac & Cheese Found in Ellensburg
I, once, had someone from the corporate office come into town and we went out to eat. He was originally from Seattle but was currently living in New York. I suggested since he just got into town we should grab something to eat before he got all 'corporate office' on me the next day and we could find a connection chatting about cool stuff in Seattle...
Most do a ‘French Dip’, but This Place in Ellensburg does a Prime Rib Dip
As close as Ellensburg is to Yakima and as much as our radio stations reach Ellensburg, we certainly don't give it as many props as it deserves. Ellensburg is a wonderful town, a wonderful community that's more than just a row of gas stations off the freeway...

Things to Look Forward to in 2024
2024 is coming up soon. Here are just a few things happening in the year to come.
Leap Year
Every 4 years the month of February gets an extra day. In 2024 it falls on a Thursday so it's not like we get an extra day off or anything. I honestly think Leap Year should be considered a holiday and thus should be a day off...

Every year after all the gift opening you have all these giant boxes laying around. Some are your new super fancy TV that even curves or whatever the new technology is now...
