Washington State Ranked 7th Place for States Where Credit Limited Decreased the Most
With people becoming so dependant on their credit cards, credit limits have actually dropped over the past few years in at least 46 of the 50 states.
It's a big financial strain on so many. Especially those stuck in a financial tug-o-war with their credit card and the credit card companies.
Financial website Wallet Hub ranked every state and found Washington falls in the top 10.
Over all, Washington State came in 7th place for states that saw the biggest decrease in credit limit.

And that's not all for Washington:
- Change in Washington Credit Limit (Latest Quarter): The average credit limit in Washington decreased by 11.30% for accounts opened in Q2 2025 vs Q2 2024.
- Change in Washington Credit Limit (Past Year): The average credit limit in Washington decreased by 1.36% for accounts opened during the 12-month period ending with June 2025.
- Average Washington Credit Limit (Latest Quarter): The average credit limit in Washington was $6,290 for accounts opened in Q2 2025.
- Average Washington Credit Limit (Past Year): The average credit limit in Washington was $9,189 for accounts opened during the 12-month period ending with June 2025.

This was a list made from looking at average credit limit per user as well as change in average credit limit per user.
Hopefully next year we'll be better on the list but, in the meantime, top 10 is pretty nice. I'll take it.
