Do you know the true meaning of Memorial Day? Only 55 percent of Americans know the real meaning, according to this survey. If you didn't know, it's a day that we honor Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice -- the ones who died while serving.

I came across a video of Ronald Reagan giving a speech for the Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Nov. 11, 1985. It was a Veterans Day speech, but the words still ring true on this Memorial Day weekend:

"The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray-haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives -- the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember."

WOW. How strong are those words? Check out the video of the speech below.

Enjoy the weekend! Just take a moment to remember those we lost defending the freedoms that we enjoy today.
