Sometimes in your daily life, something will unlock a memory. A time of your life you completely forgot about it. It might be a photo on social media or a clip from a song or someone bringing up a 'hey, remember that one candy from your childhood?'. There's a lot that can give you a nostalgic flashback.

Such was the case of visiting a nearby mall and seeing a sign that hasn't been in Yakima for a long, long time.

Flaming Wok served Chinese food that you could take to your food court seat and enjoy or get it to go as you were leaving the Yakima Mall's food court.

If you were walking by, there's a great chance you'd get offered a free sample. You know it was free because the person handing them out would say so.

The free sample, 99% of the time, was their sesame chicken, which was fantastic. He'd offer a free sample, then exclaim the sesame chicken is on sale for $4.29. Yes, I've heard the pitch enough times to remember the price at the time. You'd get a heaping load of sesame chicken and your choice of fried rice or noodles.

They did have other options as well like orange chicken and General Tso chicken, but sesame chicken was their best seller.

If you miss Flaming Wok as well and long to try it again, there's good news for you.

Flaming Wok is still open and doing well in Spokane.

Visit the Spokane Valley Mall and in the food court upstairs in the mall you'll be greeted to a familiar neon sign and employees eager to take your order.

Sure, it's not exactly the same as they don't have the person handing out free samples and the price certainly isn't what it once was back in the late 1990s
