How soon is too soon to become Facebook-official with your relationship? I've seen some quick turnaround times on the social media site, and at the same time some disappearances of the "relationship status" only to pop up months later with someone new.

Like it or not, with the massive use of Facebook, its meaning to Generation X has become a real question. Before all of this online stuff, you would just be in a relationship and it would it progress at its own real speed.

Now you have this decision on when to make your private life public to all of your "friends" online. People comment and say they are so happy for you and life goes on. But some people will judge and maybe say to themselves, "Well, that was quick," or "I didn't even know they were dating."

So the question to you is, how soon is too soon to update your relationship status?

We have a friend who became Facebook official after two weeks of dating. Not judging, but it seems a little soon. I know we all view things differently, but I can't see why you would want to share with everyone your dating life in real time.

Here's some advice from a recent Huffington Post article:

Don't change your relationship status. It is OK to be in a relationship on Facebook if you are married or engaged, but if not, it is just too much information. Also, in event of a break-up, you have to change your status back. You probably won't want the whole world to find out that your relationship failed.

Maybe you don't care or I'm just weird about it. Just my two cents.

Let's hear yours.
