Over the weekend I had the chance to check out Lilac City Comicon in Spokane, Washington.
Lilac City Comicon is the largest convention of this sort in Eastern Washington bringing in thousands of attendees from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

They bring in celebrities for fans to meet including stars from the Star Wars franchise, voice actors, ex-WWE wrestlers, comic artists, stars from the biggest movies of the '80s and '90s... it's really neat to see them in person. You can even take a photo with them or have them sign something for you for a fee. To many, it's 100% worth it.

There's plenty of shopping to be had, too. Original art pieces, classic memorabilia, plenty of movies and comics to choose from. A lot to see, for sure.

I love the independent artists and authors as well. They have rows of people who wrote their own book, drew their own graphic novel, painted their own characters -- there's a lot of talent here in the Northwest and fun to see them all in the same area. It's nice, too, as you can literally chat with the artists and authors on their projects and grab something from them if you'd like.

LOOK: 35 Vintage Cereals That Perfectly Captured Pop Culture Moments

Movies and TV shows have always found ways to partner with cereal companies as part of their promotion strategy. While some may have come up with a giveaway in boxes, others went big by having their own cereal connected to the movie or TV show title. Here are vintage cereals that were used to promote some of pop culture's biggest moments (and some you probably forgot about).
