Macy’s Plans on Closing 60+ Stores – is Yakima or Washington State Stores on the List?
Macy's confirmed that several of their stores are closing across the United States.
This is all part of a longer plan.
The plan is to shut down lesser-performing stores and hyper-focus on the locations that are doing well.
They original were shooting for closing something like 150 stores over the next few years. Some this year, some more next year, and so on.
I wouldn't be sure how many stores they have in total but when I heard it was over 60, of course I immediately thought about our location in Yakima or any of our Washington State locations and wonder if they're on this list.
Well, the bad news is Washington State locations are on this list of stores planning to close.
The good news is Yakima is safe. At least for now.
Those Washington State stores planning on closing:
South Hill Mall in Puyallup, WA
Redmond Furniture in Redmond, WA
Kitsap Mall in Silverdale, WA
Yakima/Union Gap for Valley Mall location is not on this list and I'm happy for it.
Oregon had two locations for Hillsboro and Salem on the list of stores planning on closing.
See the full list of Macy's stores closing. Many from California and New York and a few other locations like Idaho and others.
I mean, after all, Yakima is the type of town where we had one of the last open K-Mart and Radio Shack locations.
We still currently have the last Arctic Circle in Washington State and are one of the few locations that still has an open Quiznos. Not every town can say that.
