We're expecting above normal snow for winter Washington weather in 2023-2024, which is happy news for residents who love to play in the snow.

THE CASCADES

Mount Rainier was named the snowiest place in America by Redfin. They also said Mt. Rainier is tied with Mount Baker as the top snowiest places in the USA.

Mount Rainier is in the Cascades and you can get there from the White Pass Scenic Byway. It is 14,410 feet tall.

You could stack 900 full-sized giraffes to reach the height of Mount Rainier.

Mount Baker is not too far from Bellingham, near the Whatcom County border with Canada. It contains the Mt. Baker Ski Area and is close to Deming, WA.

If you stacked 3,082 adult penguins, you would reach the 10,786 feet tall height of Mount Baker.

WHY ARE MOUNT RAINIER AND MOUNT BAKER THE SNOWIEST PLACES IN AMERICA?

Both of these mountains (volcanoes) are close enough to the Pacific Ocean that they receive more atmospheric water moisture, which turns into snow.

Their high elevations also lend to a greater dump of Washington snow, making Mount Rainier and Mount Baker the top two snowiest places in the USA!
