Hello mother, hello father. Here I am at Camp Ghormley. OK ... so that's not how the song is written, but on Sunday we will be dropping off my little Shaylee at Camp Ghormley for the very first time.

She and a couple of her little friends are all going together and bunking in the same cabin. She's excited, but I think I'm nervous.

I've never gone to camp myself, so that may be part of the nervousness. Not to mention the fact that your child is spending days away from home with people you don't personally know.

Camp Ghormely has given us a list of things for Shaylee to pack:

  • Bible and something to write on and something to write with.
  • Bedding -- sleeping bag or sheets & blanket, pillow.
  • Hygiene items -- towel, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant.
  • Flashlight.
  • Camera.
  • Clothing suitable for physical activity.
  • Modest clothing. No short shorts or skirts. No underwear showing. No clothing with sexual innuendo or offensive language or graphics.
  • One-piece bathing suit or two-piece w/ swim top or tankini.
  • A jacket for cool nights and mornings.
  • Two pairs of tennis shoes (especially an old pair that can get plenty wet).
  • Theme clothing (matching the summer theme).

Is there anything that we should add to the list?
