What are Spider Rolls and Where Can I Find Them in Yakima

Lemme paint you the picture.
You just sat down at a nice sushi restaurant in Yakima or anywhere else, really. You're looking over the rolls you can get. You see familiar rolls like a California Roll or Shrimp Roll. You keep looking and you find ones called Philly Rolls or Hollywood Rolls as well. that's around the time you see something called a Spider Roll.

If a tuna roll is made from tuna and a cucumber is make with cucumber, does that means a Spider Roll is made with spiders?
Not even close.

If a Spider Roll is not spiders, what is it?

The spider in question is soft-shell crab, and it's amazing. It's lightly fried with other ingredients added like cucumber, avocado, and others along with rice, of course. Sometimes then drizzled with a light sauce and maybe extra panko for crunch.

They are delicious and, fortunately, most sushi restaurants have them on the menu.

The Spider Roll in this photo is from Ozeki in Yakima (16th and Summitview). But you can also find this at Koto Sushi and Teriyaki, Kyoto Sushi and Steakhouse, New York Teriyaki, Sumo Hibachi Sushi, and other places in Yakima like Jessie's Sushi I think has it on the menu. I couldn't find their menu online but I've been there and they're just fine.
I bet there are more, too.

Next time if you haven't tried a Spider Roll and are looking for something new, I think you'll love it.
