Spring begins this weekend. Ready or not, here it comes, with all of the fresh possibilities that the season always seems to bring. According to Farmers' Almanac:

The first day of spring will occur on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 2:37 a.m. PDT for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, which is marked by the arrival of the vernal (spring) equinox.

The days now will gradually become longer and nights shorter culminating at the longest day of the year, June 20th, when Spring passes the torch to Summer. Of course, many will begin the task of outlining a grand 'to do list' for themselves and their husbands, I mean, spouses, which will likely involve all kinds of spring cleaning both inside and outside of the home.

I can see it all before me: thorough cleaning of the inside of the house. Deep cleaning and organizing for sure. Clearing out closets, putting away winter clothing, and un-storing spring warmer weather stuff. Also on the list my wife has given m, er, I mean I've established for myself, is prepping for painting both inside and outside the house. Painting inside is great during the spring and leaving the outside until summer works well.

Outdoors, we have a great deal of lawn, garden, landscape things to tackle. Everything from getting our pond/water feature set-up and running to fixing up irrigation issues left unresolved since fall and pruning and trimming and raking everything into shape.

Sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but I enjoy it and the results. But don't focus on all work and no fun - one option to kick-off spring is to go on a great hike. My wife and took Tater on a hike up on the Cowiche Canyon Trail last weekend and had a great time. Although a cloudy day, it was beautiful.
