The first Sunfair Parade was held in 1961 in midsummer, part of a Sunfair, sponsored by the Yakima Sundusters, a promotional group of the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce. In 1972, the parade was moved to September to coincide with the opening of the Central Washington State Fair.

This years Memorial Day parade will get underway at 10AM on Saturday in Downtown Yakima. It's always a good time to enjoy the valley sunshine and see the American Flag marched down Yakima Ave.

Selah Community Days kicked off yesterday and runs through this Sunday. The parade is tomorrow morning at 10am with a new route this year. It will start at the 7-11 and end at the last stop light. Gunner and myself have the honor of announcing the parade...

This weekend the flow of traffic will be moving a little slower, because it is the annual tractor run through the canyon. This is a lot of fun for the entire family to enjoy! There is something about tractors and antique farm equipment that makes the child in both young and old to become wide-eyed! Well, we are just in the middle of summer and already preparing for Labor Day and the up coming Sunfair Parade and CWSF. I have always enjoyed the excitement of the late summer festivities.

Every year Zillah hosts their annual communtiy days  celebration and this year will be somthing extra special.  Come help Zillah celebrate 100 years (1911-2011.)  The festivites kick off Friday the 13th (Ooo Scary) with a talent show in Strewart Park followed by a fireworks display starting at 9 PM

Granger starts the celebration of the 63rd Cherry Festival beginning at noon Friday at Old Town Park at the corner of Main and Third streets with carnival rides, live music, contests and a parade along with food and craft vendors that will  be also on hand.
