I could not have asked for a better day for a softball tournament this past Saturday! We hosted our inaugural Children's Miracle Network softball tournament, with proceeds going to Children's Village-- this was our way to kick off the Radiothon that is coming up in October.

I pulled into the parking lot at about 8;20 a.m. and teams were already getting ready to play. For me, that was overwhelming. You see, I knew that we had 10 teams and that was cool, but what was overwhelming was seeing the masses of people who were there just to support the cause ... that was crazy!

We kicked off the tournament with a coaches meeting and opening speeches, followed by an opening pitch from News Talk KIT's Dave Ettl. Then we were off to the races from there!

With only one hiccup in the schedule (that was totally my fault) the day went on without any hitches, and our first year was more successful than I could have ever imagined! We raised more than $3,500!

I didn't even play, and even I was sore the next day! I walked more than 18,000 steps Saturday!

Here are the tournament's top finishers:

  • First place- Alcoballics
  • Second place- Green Lightning
  • Third place- Quit Yer Pitchin'

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our event. We cannot wait for next year!
