Daylight Saving Time – Why Are We Still Doing This Barbaric Process?!?
So you know we “fall” back this Sunday morning officially @ 2am. We will get another hour of sleep which is sweet. But come spring, we lose an hour. Why? Why are we continuing this medieval torture in 2020?
It was supposed to give agriculture morning hours to tend to the fields and give us more sunshine.
Here’s the other reason. The candy lobby supported the new system, figuring the extra hour of sunlight meant it would be safer for kids to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. It also helps the candy industry make more money.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida introduced a bill in Congress to make daylight saving time permanent for the entire nation. Called the Sunshine Protection Act of 2019, the bill would require all states and territories to permanently switch to daylight saving time unless they already have, as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and most of Arizona have.
"Studies have shown many benefits of a year-round daylight saving time, which is why Florida’s Legislature overwhelmingly voted to make it permanent last year.
Standard time’s longer morning means you’re alert sooner, and earlier darkness in the evening makes falling asleep easier, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The pro-standard-time argument also has the support of the American Academy of Cardiovascular Sleep Medicine and the National Safety Council.
Lots of politics and interests in this game. I just want to not have to set all the clocks in my life once and leave them. As someone once said, “Aint no one got time for that!”
Until we come to our senses, we will set our clocks back an hour and alter our circadian rhythm and enjoy the madness.
While we are here, check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
One last thing, since we are headed toward winter, it’s time to reverse your ceiling fans. The are most likely running counter clock wise for summer. For winter, it should run clockwise pushing down warm air to help keep your house warm. Most have black knob on the fan to switch it.

Am glad we only do this twice a year. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go reset the Kuereg, the stove, the microwave, the fridge, nightstand clock, bathroom clocks, and my car clock. It’s gonna be a busy weekend. It’s great way to spend that extra hour.
All My Best,
