Here’s Why Cracker Barrel Is Closing Tons of Its OR Locations
Cracker Barrel corporate office gave the intel in a statement to KW8 News in Portland about the sudden closures.
I remember eating at Cracker Barrel after church conventions as a kid. There were a handful of “prime” restaurant locations that our church families wanted to eat after sitting all day long listening to scriptures and talks from the pulpit. There was nothing like some Cracker Barrel biscuits, mac and cheese, and fried chicken back in those days. The wait times for a table at Cracker Barrel back then were always HORRIBLY LONG but for some reason, our parents and grandparents thought it was worth the wait.
CRACKER BARREL IS NOT THE ONLY FOOD CHAIN THAT HAS CLOSED LOCATIONS WITHOUT WARNING
The Pacific Northwest has seen its share of recent restaurant chains closing with no warning. Sonic Drive-Ins in Washington state, for instance, had a round of sudden closures in the fall of 2022, leaving many customers in shock. None of the closed Sonic locations in these cities have since reopened. Starbucks, Target, Walgreens, and even Walmart made national news when their corporate offices announced closures of regional locations due to the increase of organized theft and other crimes.

WHY IS CRACKER BARREL CLOSING TONS OF ITS OREGON LOCATIONS?
Cracker Barrel headquarters says that their restaurant business has dried up considerably since the pandemic, although they reported earnings increases according to the 4th quarter financial earnings report listed on their website. Some Oregon employees in Jantzen Beach told KGW8 New in confidentiality that the real reason for the sudden closure is a drastic response to all the druggies and crime that has been happening near their restaurant location.
Despite these Cracker Barrel closures, we hope that their sister business, the Maple Street Biscuit Company, will decide to open up a location here in the Pacific Northwest.
