I Have To Watch The Bachelorette – And Honestly, I Don’t Wanna…
I am not complaining – I just don’t “get” this show.
I am not a “show” snob either. I will watch just about any Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler movie and enjoy it. I think my issue with network reality shows is that they are just so eye-rolling. I think I find them trite, predictable and formulaic. It’s just not my cup of tea. I just don’t find them interesting.
Why do I have to watch? Because we got a local guy on this show. So, I gotta watch him represent! Zach J is originally from Yakima. He will fight 30 other ridiculously good looking dudes to "win Clares heart." Can you sense my cynicism from here?
For Bachlorette vetereans, you will recognize Clare Crawley as your new Bachlorette. She starred in a recent season of The Bachelor with Juan Pablo as the star.
I get the fact the show is an escape. I also know it’s a good to get away from our sometimes mundane and pandemic world we deal with.
Now some will take issue with the fact that I have enjoyed ’90-Day Fiancé’ on TLC. The interesting part to that show, was the idea that total strangers would enter into a long-term relationship without meeting in person. They would even sometimes get marriaged immediately, with no regard to any sort of courtship or interim getting to “know each other process”. I was also fascinated by what that relationship dynamic looked like.
I guess I just like a good honest train wreck.
But with shows like ‘The Bachelorette’ and ‘Dancing With The Stars’, I just don’t get it. I know there is an appeal to see celebs dance around and struggling actresses/actors “looking for love”, but it’s just not how my thing.
However, I will watch it so you dont have too. If you are a fan of the show, we can talk it up with following mornings recaps. If you don't normally watch it, I urge you to watch to Zach J from Yakima trying to make his mark and make us Yakimans proud (this is the part where I cross my fingers).
All My Best,
The JimShow
