Why Pickleball Is Washington's Favorite New Sport

Did you know Pickleball is Washington's official state sport? It's true!

Founded right here in Washington, people do love Pickleball. It's not as 'knee-twisting' as tennis, a lot easier on the elbows, but it's not super stationary like ping-pong, either.

And, for me, a lot easier for me to see than badminton.

One of the places in town you can check out Pickleball is our very own Yakima Athletic Club and coming up this Saturday, September 27th, there's a tournament that you can join for a great cause.

The event is called Love Like Ben Pickleball Classic.

This Pickleball tournament is honoring Ben and it's teaming up with INTRNL FIGHT, an organization bringing awareness and support for mental health.

This pickleball tournament features round robin, doubles, beginner and intermediate brackets and medals for the winners.

By registering you'll have a guaranteed spot in the tournament as well as an event sticker, access to custom pickleball paddle raffle and you'll be contributing to INTRNL FIGHT's mission supporting metal health awareness

Hockey is one of the hardest sports to play. Most hockey players will play the sport their entire lives, starting to skate as soon as they can walk. Even with all that dedication, the likelihood a player cracks an NHL roster is astronomically low. The WHL is a high-tier developmental league that sees many of its players make it to the show. But for a player who makes it to the WHL or any other junior league, the chances of them reaching the NHL is still only 5%.
