There was a time not too long ago where you could go to a fast food joint, order a combo meal, hand the person behind the counter a $5 bill and get change back.

Those days seem to be behind us now.

In fact, many places are offering the same combo meal of recent years but for $10-ish.

If you have a family of 4 or 5, simply going through the drive-thru requires a small bank loan.

There are still deals out there if you know where to look or use different places apps for special deals, but just a random drive-thru encounter could have you paying big bucks.

Mashed came up with a list of the most expensive and least expensive fast food restaurants. The one they listed at number one has several locations across the United States including one location right here in Yakima.

What's the most expensive fast food restaurant?

According to Mashed, that top spot belongs to Wendy's.

They took into account price increases over the years among other contributing factors.

And, again, it doesn't mean every item on their menu is overpriced, you can still find deals with their chicken nuggets and standard burgers but, yes, if you're ordering Baconators for everyone in the car, it could get pricy. No matter how amazingly delicious those are.

And don't forget the Frosty.

I wonder if their 'never frozen' mantra has anything to do with the prices, on top of higher quality of food and higher wages but that a contributing factor for all restaurants.

Wendy's has 83 in Washington State alone, including the one in Yakima. There are 39 in Oregon and a whopping 294 in California.

Other expensive fast food places that made the list include Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Panera, KFC, and Five Guys.

Again, be smart with your money but depending on where you go, keep looking out for those deals.
