Move-In Day Was Yesterday: How Did You Deal With a Child Going Away to College?

Yesterday was the day -- move-in day at the University of Washington for my oldest son, Mathew.

Surprisingly, I was a little more composed and not as teary-eyed as I thought I would be, but I think that's because he did a summer research project at UW. That helped prepare me for yesterday.

I'm very thankful that he is only 2 1/2 hours away, so I can just hop in the car to visit him. I don't have to worry about being so far away that I have to board a plane to see him.

It will definitely be weird not having him at home, though.
