The Central Washington State Fair is set for September 24 through October 3 at Yakima’s State Fair Park. Celebrating Together Again is the theme of the fair this year recognizing that people are together again after many events that have been canceled or delayed over the last two years because of COVID-19.

GOING TO THE FAIR? DON'T FORGET YOUR MASK

Kathy Kramer, President, and CEO of Central Washington Fair Association says people can expect all the favorites from food and displays to the many shows during the 10-day run of the fair. The only thing different this year will be the requirement to wear a mask whenever you enter a building on the fairgrounds. Kramer says State Fair Park is simply following the governor’s mask mandate which requires people to wear a mask when indoors, vaccinated or not. Kramer says the masks are not required when on the fairgrounds as long as people aren’t inside a building. She says fair employees will be stationed at entrances to remind people of the mask requirement and to hand out masks to those who don’t have them.

EMPLOYEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK WHILE WORKING

Kramer says all food vendors and those working in the carnival areas will also require masks. She also says they’ll be implementing extra cleaning protocols for the rides to keep people safe.
Handwashing stations and hand sanitizers will be available throughout the fairgrounds. Kramer says she’s confident with the safety rules in place that people will have a great time while staying COVID free at the fair this year set for September 24 through October 3.
