Jollibee

Jollibee's is known for being the biggest fast food chain to come out of the Philippines and there is a sizeable Filipino population in the Yakima Valley. They are definitely no match for the authentic food served at Filipino Hall on Thursdays in Wapato. We are, however, very fortunate that there is one Jollibee's location in Washington state. It is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is located in Tukwila at Southcenter Mall (1374 Southcenter Mall). They are the only fast food chain we can think of that serves Peach Mango Pie "made with real Philippine mangoes." I will definitely be stopping here on my next trip to the Westside for one of their chicken sandwiches, burgers, and spaghetti.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop

You can find a Potbelly sandwich in Renton, Bellevue, Issaquah, Redmond, Bothell, and Seattle. Why couldn't we add one here in Yakima? I ordered their Avo Turkey sandwich and a cup of mac & cheese. They toasted the sandwich and it came with cucumber slices and fresh chunks of avocado. My sandwich was so mouthwatering and savory and the mac & cheese was creamy and piping hot. I also bought their S'mores Cookie and it was soft and the chocolate chips were gooey, just how I like my cookies!

Raising Canes

The closest Raising Canes location to the Yakima Valley is in Portland, OR. That is way too far for me to try one of their chicken strips. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Raising Canes during my recent trip to the Las Vegas Strip but it was so hot the day I was there that I ended up hopping on the Deuce bus and went back to my hotel room to cool off. I am so sad to have missed out on tasting food there. We need a Raising Canes locations in Yakima asap! There is a change.org petition to bring a Raising Cane's to WA here.

Texas Roadhouse

I want my 11-year-old daughter Willow to experience throwing peanut shells on the floor of a roadhouse restaurant just like I did when I was her age growing up in Nashville, Tennessee. I've never been to a Texas Roadhouse out in Tri Cities (so I'm not sure they do that there, but I've heard countless friends and frenemies mention that they wish we had a Texas Roadhouse in Yakima. I don't like eating steak but I can tell right away just from looking at the menu that I would likely enjoy eating their Cactus Blossom fried onion because it looks exactly like the Bloomin' Onion from Outback Steakhouse in Union Gap.
