Where Should We Eat in Yakima? Locals Answer This Reddit Question
If we got a dollar for every time someone has asked us locals in Reddit threads, "Where do you like to eat in Yakima?" we'd probably have a million dollars by now. We can tell you all the hot spots, the places we miss that are no longer here, and the places we recommend visitors head to for a great meal.
For those looking for authentic Yakima-made foods, I recommend you look at my list of places to get a cheese zombie. People looking for something familiar, like a flatbread pizza, I'd recommend the spicy turkey jalapeño flatbread from Fiddles Lunch Box on Nob Hill. It's mouthwatering with every bite, and if you don't want it too spicy, just ask them to lay off the extra jalapeños.
There are lots more places I think you've gotta try, so keep reading!
Many locals like to make reservations at Crafted because of its exclusivity and menu that changes frequently.
Best Restaurants in Yakima
If you want to try food that was ranked by the James Beard Awards, try two places: Los Hernandez Tamales (3706 Main St, Union Gap, and 6411 W Nob Hill Blvd, Yakima) and Crafted (22 N 1st St, Yakima). The fresh local asparagus tamales at Los Hernandez are what got them the coveted foodie award a few years back, and the chef at Crafted was a semi-finalist for Best Chef two years in a row.
For mom-and-pop restaurants and diners, Asian food, pizza, burgers, and dive bars, see this list I made, and if you're craving Mexican food to-go, try the drive-thru at El Porton de Pepe on Walnut Ave. (they have amazing salsa) and El Rinconsito on Nob Hill Blvd.
I recommend you check out this list if you're looking for the best restaurants in Yakima for breakfast (some of them even serve breakfast all day).
Most restaurants in Yakima now offer gluten-free options too, so just ask when you order!
