Why Is There A Garter In My Junk Drawer?!?
My colleague Reesha On The Radio wrote an article yesterday about junk drawers. Great and relatable topic as most of us have one. I have practiced the junk drawer style of management of “left overs” for years. I thought it would be fun to open my junk drawer and share what was in it. I was kinda surprised by all the stuff in there. Here we go.
This is my junk drawer. Don’t judge me! I had a rough idea as to what was in there, but after opening it, I found a few surprises and a couple items I had been looking for.
Inside I found some cords for my iPhone devices and an Android charger. I have been looking for that 6 ft iPhone charging cable for a couple days now. I forgot I put it there. One of the rewards of doing this article.
I know there is some stuff here that requires an explanation.
An empty Altoids box. I am not sure why that is there. These boxes are great for stowing small items. It’s empty, so there goes that theory. So with that said, I have no idea why its in there. Did I throw it away? No, cause I might need it one day (yes, I am in therapy).
Headlamp light. I use this for fixing speakers. I am a bit of an audiophile and do my own speaker repair. I last used these in March when I was fixing speakers. I also used it for crawling around in my attic when installing my security system at my place. It’s handy and very bright. I was looking for this a couple weeks ago. Glad I found it.
That is my Grandfathers belt buckle. I don’t know how it got there, but am glad I found it. Will put it in a more appropriate place. Sorry Gramps!
OK, this is a garter. Lisa thinks it’s a headband. Regardless, I use this to keep bread fresh. In my previous marriage, the bread would constantly go bad because someone didn’t close the bread right. We would constantly throw away good bread. In this case, I use the garter / headband to wrap around the bread to ensure it stays fresh.
This is a bottle of Green Coffee extract I used during my weight loss (I lost 60 lbs in 2019). It’s expensive and I forgot about this bottle until I opened the drawer about an hour ago.
Glad I did this. Manage those items who don’t have a place. Or you could be like me and continue to justify putting things in a drawer rather than put them away in it’s proper place.
All My Best,
