I have seen a lot of posts lately about people having a hard time sleeping, so I decided to look into various ways to help people sleep -- something that is non-habit-forming. There seems to be a widespread consensus on music, a trick that I already use!

If you are listening to your favorite type of music and you start to feel your body relax and the stress somehow seems to slip away -- that's not just chance. Music directly affects your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body relax and get ready for "night-nights," as we call them in my house.

Now, we generally all relax when listening to familiar music. However, it's important to remember that the most relaxing music is something slower and smooth, much like classical music or jazz.

I find that listening to ocean waves really helps me relax and get ready for bed.

So try it out, give it a whirl! I mean, you have nothing to lose ... except for sleep, right?
