It's been a great week to be a foodie in Yakima! First, there was the opening of The Human Bean Yakima coffeehouse today (Wednesday). In case you missed it, Friday  (October 11th) brings the grand opening of Nino's Mexican Grill in the Westpark Shopping Center.

Nino's is opening up in the old Black Bear frozen yogurt location at 4001 Summitview Ave (next to the Subway sandwich shop). This will be the second location for the restaurant (the original location is in Union Gap).

The new eaterie has been in the remodeling phase for the past ten months, and we are excited to see what it looks like inside. From the looks of the Union Gap menu, this second location will have delicious authentic Mexican food ranging from enchiladas, tacos, nachos, sopes, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, carne asadas and taco salads plus a kids' menu.

For those of us who work and live near the 40th Ave and Summitview Ave area in West Valley, there are now five great places to choose for lunch or dinner:

  • KFC
  • Subway Sandwiches
  • Ballesteri's Cafe
  • Arby's
  • Nino's Mexican Grill

Get your wallets ready because according to Nino's Mexican Grill's Facebook post, the new Summitview Ave location will be offering menu items at 50% off all day on Friday, October 11th, starting at 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It looks like Nino's half-off special does not include the Birria special (a spicy beef dish) or drinks, so don't even ask!

Buen provecho!
