Wallet Hub was looking at the best states to retire and Washington State didn't do great.

Not only did it not make the top 10, it made the bottom 10.

Yep! Washington State is Top 10 in worst states to retire.

This list wasn't made from more scenic places to retire or most 'how many outdoor activities you can drive to in a day' to retire. If that was the case, Washington would definitely be in the top 10. Maybe even the number one spot.

Instead, they ranked these states based on cost of living, quality of life, and health care to come up with a list like this.

Here are a few mores states about being retired in Washington State, financially speaking:

Washington State was ranked 26th for health-care facilities per capita.
Washington State was ranked 33rd for elderly-friendly labor market.
Washington State was ranked 36th in the Wallethub taxpayer ranking.
Washington State was ranked 43rd for percentage of population 65 and older.
Washington State was ranked 43rd for adjusted cost of living.
Washington State was ranked 47th for annual cost of in-home services
Washington State was ranked 48th for property-crime rate. That's the 3rd worst in the states.

Overall, Washington State was ranked the 8th worst state to retire in.
The worst is Kentucky.

And if you're wondering about the retirement haven known as Florida, it only came in 2nd place, after Wyoming being in first.
