Breakfast cereal has been a staple in many homes for years. Whether you keep it in your pantry, up in the cupboard or, like many, on top of the refrigerator for easy access, cereal is that easy to make and eat item for all ages.

And WIC has supported that as well.

So much so, in fact, WIC has made an improvement to what cereal you can get through WIC and it's one I'm not sure many know about it, but I'd love for you to know in case you accidently pass up on this option.

What's the big WIC change in cereal this year for Washington State

WIC announced as of this year you can now choose the 36oz variety.

When you see cereal at the store, they often have a few different sizes to choose from including the standard size and even the extra large boxes that are often labeled Family Size.

36oz is bigger than that.

They now have boxes labeled Giant Size which holds more cereal per box.

It doesn't specifically have to be exactly 36oz as many cereal comes in different sizes so know that if there's a WIC Approved cereal that has upto 36oz sized boxes, you'll be good with WIC.

Again, not every cereal is WIC approved but there is a list you can follow for Washington State. At most grocery stores they also have a WIC sticker underneath the ones that are WIC approved.
