Gunner & Cheyenne had front-row seats to the 2019 Children's Miracle Network Radiothon as Yakima pulled off another miracle at Children's Village: After seven high-energy hours of fundraising, the tote board stood at $46,800 Friday afternoon.

More than 20 volunteers manned the phone banks, celebrating donations of $100 or more by ringing the cowbells they kept at the ready on their table. Phrase of the day: "More cowbell!"

The "One Call, One Miracle" radiothon, presented by your local Ace Hardware stores, supports services at Children’s Village and Virginia Mason Memorial’s neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric unit and The Family Birthplace.

And starting at 6 a.m. Friday -- as the community heard the inspirational stories of local patients, parents and staff at the hospital -- donors dug deep. Though the tally stood a little short of this year's $50,000 goal, donations are still being accepted by texting “VMMKIDS” to 51555.
