Meet Jaron: CMN Miracle Child for the Month
Yakima is very fortunate to have the services we have thanks for the Memorial Foundation. The great stories from the miracle children right here from the valley shows strength and determination from kids and families from the region.
This month's story features Jaron.
Although Jaron had a typical childhood from birth to about two-years-old, his parents noticed his speech was delayed. At first they didn't think much of it as they had another child with delayed speech but it was still something to keep an eye on.
This paired with recent stemming they saw him doing and how he wouldn't make eye contact as many children do, they decided to take him to Children's Village for an official diagnosis of autism.
More challenges along the way but Children's Village had services that he could take advantage of including feeding therapy since he was very picky about what he wanted to eat, occupational therapy and services from the Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT) as he was very active but not always aware of his surroundings so BAT helped him not to do hazardous things like running across a parking lot or running into traffic.
Still, Jaron was a typical boy growing up. He was very active and loved swimming, climbing, and playing at the park.
Now, Jaron is 18 years old, a senior in high school, where he does very well at math. He still loves to swim and visit trampoline parks, and living life as only he can.

It's always great to hear stories like Jaron's. We have more CMN Miracle Family of the Month as well you can catch up on.
Services through Yakima's Memorial Foundation and Children's Miracle Network can ensure our children and their families can get the help and services they need. Find out more at the memfound.org.
