Joanna Cotten: A Powerful Voice Arises

Who is Joanna Cotten? For starters, she has one of the most powerful and unique voices I've ever heard. Her presence on stage at KeyArena during Eric Church's April 15 Outsiders Tour stop in Seattle couldn't be denied.

She comes across as a feisty, strong woman who could hold her own in the roughest of honky-tonks. But she's also performed at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe -- and they don't invite amateurs there.

Joanna and Eric Church duet on one of my favorite songs, "Over When It's Over," and hearing the song live was one of my favorite memories from the Seattle show. As my fianceé Kristina will attest, I've watched the YouTube video a hundred times and I'm mesmerized by Joanna Cotten's voice and style in the song.
