Human Food Yakima’s Pets Are Obsessed With
It's pretty universal that pets, whether dog or cat or ferret or pot-bellied pig, love to eat. What seems to be a favorite, in general, among these often furry friends of ours, is that they frequently express a preference for eating whatever it is that we're eating.
Some share freely with their companions and some try to hold the line against getting their critters ever used to the taste of 'people food'. In our home, our 95+ pound Golden Retriever, 'Tater' has been taught that he has his food and we have ours. However, even at a year and a half old, he still hasn't seemed to fully appreciate the message.
Usually, it's a visiting family member who can't resist the temptation to feed Tater a delicious morsel under the table, and this infrequent event can encourage his attempts at looking pitiful in the hopes that we'll cave in. We never feed him from our plates or from the table but occasionally, we'll let him have a veggie or a cracker or even an occasional tortilla chip - presented to him as a treat, away from the dinner table, when he's done something praiseworthy.
