This morning at Gilbert Elementary in Yakima local students got to have a little fun while learning about eating right and the importance of regularly exercising. Yakima area Subways are giving back to the community by talking to elementary school kids about being healthy and exercising on a regular basis. Yakima has ranked high on the list of the most obese cities in the country, and Subway wants to help fight that trend by doing something about it with their "Minute to win it challenge."

The students at Gilbert Elementary were selected to compete in 4 different 60 second challenges aimed at showing them exercise can be fun and easy. The Football toss, the Hula Hoop Contest, the balance beam, and the balloon relay were the four events that students got the chance to compete in. Every child was given a $5 gift card to subway and had a ton of fun showing off for their classmates. All in all it's great when local businesses take the time and initiative to do what they can to make a difference in our commmunity. A special thanks to Subway Regional Manager Tony Rizzo and Lauren Christensen for making this event possible.
